About the Author

Jack Russell began the Milo Mysteries series in an effort to provide his twin boys with reading material suitable for their young age, advanced reading level and love of birds. The Milo series features a young Mourning Dove, Milo, whose behaviors mimic those observed in children with Asperger’s Syndrome, a diagnosis shared by Jack Russell own boys. The other birds that share the Waltersons’ backyard and assist on his mystery cases share many of the difficulties faced by children in today’s schools, ADHD, asthma, food allergies, etc. The books highlight the abilities of people with differences and difficulties to work together and solve problems and form friendships. The books also highlight the impact human activities have the animal communities all around us.
