What's Wrong With You?
The authors have experienced or witnessed a child who looks or acts differently being asked, "What's wrong with you?" Although the intent may not be malicious, this question can be hurtful for the child who has a physical, cognitive, emotional, or sensory challenge. The purpose of the book is to raise awareness of the capabilities of children with diverse abilities. This book will educate children on interacting with a person who moves, looks, or acts differently. Children/students of diverse needs and abilities are still capable and desire the same experience in life as their peers. The authors would like to illustrate what others may perceive as children's weaknesses can actually be their gifts to us all.

About the Author

Nancy Crivellone, a physical therapist, and Catherine Dail, an occupational therapist, are mother and daughter who work with the diverse learner population of Chicago Public Schools. Nancy and Catherine received their doctorate degrees in their respective field from Creighton University. They work to improve the functional independence of children with various physical, cognitive, emotional, and sensory challenges in the educational setting. Their goal is to help the children be successful academically, physically, emotionally, and socially in the school setting. During their time as therapists, Nancy and Catherine have witnessed many misconceptions about children with diverse abilities and their capabilities of participating in their schools and communities. They hope to encourage advocacy, empowerment, and integration for all children.
