Overview

Imagine a world of adventure right in your small town. That's what Janey and Peter do every day. Janey imagines escaping her abusive, drunken father ever since her mother died in a mysterious car accident. Peter simply follows Janey around because she is his best friend and the most interesting person he has ever met. While exploring their small town, Janey and Peter, often go to the house in the woods where most other townspeople won't go due to its ghostly and possibly tragic history. In their explorations they find many different things, and most recently Janey found a finger. Then the unraveling begins. Janey's father feels like the young kids may have stumbled onto too much. So, he kidnaps Peter and another boy in the town. His first attempt at killing them in a warehouse fire is unsuccessful. Then when Janey learns that her best friend is missing, she makes it her mission to find him. As Peter is missing and Janey is searching for him, she also learns that it's her family that has been behind all of the destruction in the town. For, they seek to own the entire thing again for their own gain and will stop at nothing, including murder, to do so. There are many questions about what is happening and how it is all connected. One by one, the answers are bound to come to light. What's Next will bring you into the minds of the characters as you read about how their relationships develop and how vastly different their families are. The extent of greed that exists and the actions that are taken to secure their own intentions is never ending. As the first book of this series you will see the town from the perspective of Peter and Janey. As the series continues you will learn more about the town and the people from other character's viewpoints. Happy hunting for What's Next.

About the Author

As the author of this book, I, Christine Michelle Figueroa (Walls), know what it's like to breath because of the drive and magic of writing. Writing is my therapy and has been since I was 10 years old. Since then I have written hundreds of poems and a few short stories along with this book. Working on this series has been an absolute dream. I also love being a part of open mic nights and sharing my works on stage. It is such a unique and rewarding atmosphere to be a part of. Sharing my own writing and hearing others' works is definitely a place where I belong. I grew up in a small town in a house full of chaos and infinite, unnecessary poverty. Chaos that stemmed from the loss of my mother at a young age pushing us into a life of a blended family household with 7 children squeezed together in not enough space. So many issues existed within my childhood that I do not even wish to recap them all. I spent my time writing, playing sports and anything outdoors. We trekked through the woods and swam in the creeks jumping out of trees to the water below. I also climbed many trees to escape everything below. I've dealt with plenty of loss and love in my life. I'm no stranger to hardships. I left home when I was 15. I have worked several jobs over my lifetime from customer service, insurance, collections, door to door sales, an AT in the Navy for 8 years, currently a paralegal and a few other odd end jobs as well. I have a lot to write about and have met a lot of characters in my life from various places with different stories. Over the years I've connected with many different people and had various adventures. I deployed 3 times in the Navy and was able to visit 8 different countries along with jumping off of the ship at swim call twice and swimming in the Arabian Sea. However, the most amazing part of my life are my 3 children. Raising them on my own for most of their lives has been both a challenge and a gift. They are all very different from each other, especially my son who has intellectual disabilities. It was a miracle that my son and I survived the seizure during my pregnancy. I have done the best I can to give them a life I never had. So, I always strive to do my best with everything that I can. So, I worked hard and achieved obtaining a bachelor's degree in Journalism/Mass Communications and am currently working on a Master's degree in Psychology. Life is no fairytale, but perspective can make it a wonderful adventure full of wondering, What's Next.
