About the Author

The author, born and raised in a small, home-town, has had varied and frequent training with firearms, starting at the age of nine years. He participated in National Rifle Association matches in his high school gun club and went on to NRA high power matches, Rifle Silhouette, Pistol Silhouette, various defensive shooting matches, and attended schools by Jeff Cooper, Chuck Taylor, and other noted civilian instructors in addition to military training. He founded the Cactus Match League in Phoenix, Arizona, has taught in the state Firearms Safety, and in law enforcement. Currently, he teaches Defensive Shooting and tactics in Prescott, Arizona. Over fifty years ago, he joined the National Rifle Association, and is currently a Benefactor member. Black powder shooting is a favorite, both cartridge firearms and muzzle loaders. Due to the number of hours in a day, the black powder shooting has taken a lower priority.
