About the Author

Barry K. Weinhold, PhD, is Professor Emeritus from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, where he founded the M. A. in Counseling and Human Services and served as chair for many years. He is a licensed psychologist in Colorado since 1976. He currently serves as the Executive Director and Clinical Director at the Colorado Institute For Conflict Resolution and Creative Leadership in Colorado Springs, that he co-founded in 1987. Barry still conducts therapy for between 15-20 clients each week.
Barry served as a Consultant to the United Nations during the U.N. International Year of the Family. He lived in Bratislava, Slovakia, where he helped develop the Bratislava International Centre For Family Studies in preparation for its adoption as a U.N. agency.
Barry has been involved in creating violence prevention programs he founded/directed the Kindness Campaign, a community-based violence prevention program. In addition, he founded/directed The Kind and Safe Schools Initiate, a school-based violence prevention program. Finally, he helped create a Home Visitation Program, titled, The First Visitor Program, designed to prevent child abuse and neglect.
Barry created online courses in Trauma-Informed-Care For Practitioners and is the author or co-author of 80 books on various topics in psychology. He has a weekly podcast titled, GET REAL with Dr. Barry Weinhold, available on YouTube and Spotify. The podcast expands on the content of his recent books, GET REAL: The Hazards of Living Out of your False Self. and Intimate Combat: Conflict Resolution Skills For Couples.
