What If Worries is a guided therapy book designed to help children build skills to manage worry thoughts and anxiety disorders.

It takes the child and parent/care provider or therapist through the symptoms of anxiety. It also provides explanations for some of the body symptoms that commonly occur. Finally it gives a therapy or treatment guide to managing anxiety disorder via evidence based practise.

The steps provided will help build understanding and resilience in regard to anxiety disorder and provide skills to overcome this very debilitating issue.

This book is designed for primary/ elementary aged children but the CBT and mindfulness strategies used can be adapted to use with teenagers and adults.

About the Author

About the Author Liz McDonald is a well established Private Practise Mental Health Social Worker/Psychotherapist. She enjoys writing therapy books for children’s mental health and emotional needs; however her skills in writing are multi-genre with her exploring the realms of children’s fiction, adult biography and adult therapy and health. Away from writing Liz works in her own mental health practise with an eclectic therapy base including CBT, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Symbol & Sandplay Therapy, Schema Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Guided Mindfulness and Art Therapy. Liz’s practise includes working with children, teens and adults. Her passion includes working with children with anxiety, behaviour disorders and autism spectrum disorders. In regard to working with adult mental health; Liz has a long history and skill base with co-morbid mental health including drug and alcohol. She is skilled with eating disorders, mood disorders, schizophrenia and other psychotic disorders, OCD, anxiety, trauma, etc. Her work has resulted in her being accredited as a victims of crime therapist working with adults and children. A new and special interest in therapy has resulted in a special focus on dissociative disorders including dissociative identity disorder. Liz does not profess to be an expert in regard to DID but is a keen supporter and passionate advocate for those identifying with this disorder who may or may not be formally diagnosed. Other interests and activities include lecturing on mental illness with Monash University Medical Hub, writing articles for newspapers and magazines, public speaking and supporting in parent/family education programs. Liz is the published Author of What If Worries; guided therapy book for childhood anxiety disorders, available in paperback or download. The second book written by Liz; When Jarrod’s Grandpa Died is a supportive educational book for childhood understanding of terminal illness, death and the funeral process. A third ebook released through Smashwords is a liquid diet book specific to medical needs that require a special diet. My Body Book about me and how I can keep my body safe is the forth published therapy book for Liz and was released in May 2014.
