This 48–page book accurately provides information, illustration, and photographs of our solar system. The information about the Sun and its family of planets is intended for young scientists and readers, but goes beyond the basics of traditional solar system factual information into narratives concerning gravity, magnetism, atmospheres, chemical composition, orbits, spin, and eclipses. I recommend this book for young scientists and readers who want to know more about our solar system. But at the same time, I believe that teachers should be aware of the challenging content that young scientists and readers may experience. This is one of those books that a young scientist and reader may benefit from assistance and guidance when reading. When my almost 10–year old granddaughter read this book, she said that she thought the book would be about our solar system, but was happily surprised to read about space rocks and shooting stars. This book is highly organized with a table of contents, fact file, find out more section, websites, glossary, and index. The inclusion of the Word Stations with possibly unfamiliar words and brief, clear and concise definitions at the bottom of most pages helps comprehension.The content, illustrations, and photography certainly can inform young scientists about our solar system.
