About the Author

Edith Nesbit (London, August 15, 1858 - May 4, 1924) was an English writer and poet. Minor of six brothers, traveled by England, Spain and France. He married at age 21 with Hubert Bland, with whom he had five children. He founded the Fabian Society. She was one of the first women to smoke in public. He died of lung cancer. He wrote terror, romance, poetry, socialist propaganda, plays and reviews.
He is known mainly for his books for children full of humor and with an innovative style that, sometimes, it develops the adventures of the protagonists in an ordinary reality with magical elements.
Edith Nesbit's novels were often a source of inspiration for other children's writers such as C.S. Lewis, the writer of The Chronicles of Narnia; J. K. Rowling, the author of the Harry Potter saga; Diana Wynne Jones; P. L. Travers; And Edward Eager
