For seventeen years Pesta was editor and publisher of The Brownstown Banner in southern Indiana. His newspaper experience is reflected in his mystery novel, "Safely Buried," which is available from amazon.com as a paperback and ebook. At The Banner he wrote all kinds of things, from obituaries to editorials, from town-meeting stories to high-school sports, from features about housewives’ favorite recipes to captions for photos of dead rattlesnakes and giant pumpkins. Born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania, Pesta received degrees from the University of Notre Dame and the University of Virginia and spent a year at the University of London as a Fulbright fellow. His short stories have appeared in various literary magazines, among them Sou’wester, The Florida Review, Four Quarters, and Prairie Schooner. He lives in south-central Indiana with his wife, Maureen, an artist who did the covers for "The Werley Boys" and "Safely Buried."
