About the Author

Born on July 13, 1941, in Waxahachie, Texas, to a sharecropper's daughter and a frequently far away father, Andrew never gave up on his dreams. When he was a small boy reading his Uncle Ollie’s copies of the Saturday Evening Post, his love for writing began. In High School, Andrew's English teacher, Mrs. G. E. Ramsey, Sr., introduced him to Shakespeare, Thoreau, Faulkner, and the power of words and sentences.

Through two marriages and two daughters, Andrew worked at various jobs in the U.S. and abroad, writing when he could, attending writing classes, and occasionally contributing ideas to columnists at both The Dallas Morning News, and the now defunct Dallas Times Herald. Often he would be up late at night or early in the morning, while his family slept, to find the time to write. Early in the 1980s, he met Mark Stevens and Jim Pruitt, radio drive-time personalities at KEGL 97.1 FM. During this period he contributed both humorous material and ideas to the show.

In October 2002, he started writing a daily column, WEIRD, BIZARRE and UNUSUAL, sending it via e-mail to friends and family.

When Andrew isn’t writing, he is reading. He gets his factual information from virtually any reliable source available: newspapers, magazines, radio, television and books. His enjoyment of writing never ends. He says, “I plan to continue writing WEIRD, BIZARRE and UNUSUAL as long as I have at least one eye, one finger, and enough brain left to do research on subjects as old as recorded history, to those as modern as today's news.”
