About the Author

Stan Rose is a full-time professional landscape photographer, with numerous calendar, magazine, and book credits. His first photography book, "Bigfoot Slept Here" was self-published in 2005, and his book "Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve" was published in 2012 by Skyline Press. Rose has an MS in atmospheric science from the University of Washington, and did his thesis on tornado forecasting and severe weather. He spent 14 years forecasting the weather with the National Weather Service before resigning in 2016. He is uniquely qualified to teach the appreciation and forecasting of weather for photographers and other outdoor enthusiasts. He currently lives in Flagstaff, Arizona with wife and family.
