We Conquer or Die
"We Conqueer or Die" is the motto of Terry's Texas Rangers as they become the finest cavalry unit on both sides of the Civil War. The hero, Matt Jorgensen, meets Steve Andrews, a deputy sheriff in Nacogdoches, Texas and after they bring a killer down, they are faced with joining the Confederacy and become part of the Civil War. The problem being; Matt is from the north, Montana. However, his girl is from Tennessee and is a true confederate. When he has a chance to go a.w.o.l., he races back to her home to find that she was shot by a Union soldier and probably killed. He returns to his company with the vigor of a vengeful soldier and becomes an instant hero as he rides through the enemy lines, taking Union soldiers with him. Because of their prowess with guns and horses, Matt and Steve rapidly become officers and train the rest of the companies in Terry's Texas Rangers how to ride and shoot. Ergo: "We conquer or die" becomes their motto. They get their flag, their motto and their song in New Orleans from a pair of English actors, and when they receive their Kentucky horses, with the help of General Albert Sidney Johnston, the rest is history.

About the Author

When Ermal was eight years old, living in Dearborn, Michigan, he found a roll of paper underneath a billboard sign, which he picked up and used as a writing tablet. He immediately began writing poems, and later short stories. When he worked in a steel mill in Detroit, he wrote more short stories about the Civil War, and screenplays for television. He earned his BS Degree in English, Acting and Literature, with a Master's Degree in Divinity and a Doctorate Degree in Theology (church growth). It was when he was an actor and on the location site of "Lonesome Dove" that he was inspired to write a book, the title of which he had shelved since he was fourteen. The book was called, "Across the Brazos", a prequel and sequel to William Dale Jennings' novel and screenplay, "The Cowboys", which Mr. Jennings gave him his permission to do so. "I wish I had written it," Jennings said. "We Conquer or Die" is Ermal's fourth novel and carries the reader into the Civil War.
