About the Author

Robert is a Freeport High School Graduate. Class of 1962 and a graduate of Trident Technical College, Associate Degree, major in business, retailing. At 18 joined the U. S. Coast Guard from September 1962 to February 1991; he served continuously as enlisted and Commissioned Officer. As an enlisted in the Radarman specialty, one tour of duty was Chief in Charge, Radarman School, Governors Island, NY. There were 10 instructors and 4 classes of 15 to 25 students running concurrently. Commissioned as Chief Warrant Officer in 1973, was sent to the buoy tender Citrus in Kodiak Alaska from being stationed on the Cutter Campbell in Portland Maine. Another tour of duty was Commanding Officer, USCG Station Shinnecock, Hampton Bays, NY 1979 to 1982. He has traveled to every State that has salt water on its shores and to a dozen Countries, including the USSR in 1970. Transferred 13 times. Work on this book generated from his assignment at USCG Headquarters, Washington, DC. Married in 1966 to Geraldine (Jeri); they have 2 Daughters, 5 Grandsons, and 1 Granddaughter. The author and his wife reside in Charleston, SC.
