Overview

Have you ever wondered what life would be like without the sun? No water, no trees, no bumblebees, not even a slight, cool night breeze.
Wonder no more!
WANDERING IN THE SUN is an adventure where you hang out with my granddaughter, Paris and Mr. Sun. Throughout the day Paris discovers the many roles of the sun and realizes how important Mr. Sun is in sustaining life on Earth. It will help children deepen their understanding of the world around them and their role in preserving it. WANDERING IN THE SUN shows us that we have a closer connection to the sun than we realize, despite its age and distance. It will make you look at the sun in a different light.
It is fun and exciting and filled with facts that are enlightening. It has rhythm and rhyme and makes you want to read it all the time. It's a great read-aloud for all ages and crowds. It has a glossary at the end to define some of the words within. It is aligned to the Elementary National Science Standards and is a great resource for elementary teachers and students who love science. It has a plethora of incredible pictures illustrated by my niece, Jessica Simien Pennie, an elementary school teacher and artist.
As the author, I invite you to open my book and follow Paris on her journey as she wanders in the sun, learning, spinning, playing, growing, warming up, getting wet, feeling the wind, and powering up while having a ton of fun!

Jessica Simien Pennie was born in Winfield, Illinois, but grew up in Houston, Texas. From a young age, she always loved to draw and would find herself daydreaming and doodling while in school.

After graduating from The University of Texas at San Antonio where she studied Biology, Jessica found herself working in various capacities within the medical field as well as her current position as an 8th year elementary school teacher.

While being an educator, she has continued to pursue her passion as an artist and creator. Jessica loves to inspire students to believe that they can pursue many opportunities and don’t have to choose to be one thing in life.

In her free time, Jessica loves to spend time with her fellow educator/artist husband Iyah, their son Iyah Pierre, and play with their four dogs Blaze, Pennie, Marshall, and Rory.
