Overview

This is the story of a 1927 Seagrave pumper truck and a small town fire department. The heroic fire truck, Wailin' Walt, has seen better days and has been retired. Day after day he watches the newer, big trucks leave the station to save homes and help the community. One day he gets a visit from a fireman's son and starts sharing his story as well as the fire department's history. Then a heavy rain falls on the town, a structure is on fire and Wailin' Walt is the only truck able to make it to the scene.

Jillian Eckerle is an author of 'factual fiction' - taking historical facts and creating a fictional story from those facts. She is from the rolling hills of Southern Indiana and continues to raise her family there. She enjoys spending time with her husband and their two kids - as well as all of their animals. She is an avid reader, enjoys photography, old houses, old farm equipment and old firetrucks. Jillian is an active volunteer with the fire department, her church and local schools.
Her first published book - Wailin' Walt - ties in her love of family (based on her grandfather and father's active roles with the local fire department) and love of old trucks (a 1927 Seagrave pumper truck).
