Voyage au centre de la Terre (A Journey to the Center of the Earth) is a classic science fiction novel by Jules Verne. It was written in 1864 and translated into English as early as 1877. In the novel a German professor (Otto Lidenbrock) believes there are volcanic tubes going toward the centre of the Earth. He, along with his nephew Axel and their guide Hans descends into an extinct Icelandic volcano, encountering many adventures, including prehistoric animals and natural hazards. They eventually come to the surface again in Southern Italy. Voyage au centre de la Terre is one of the best-selling novels of Jules Verne.

He is best known for his novels Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea (1870), A Journey to the Center of the Earth (1864), and Around the World in Eighty Days (1873).
