An interlinear format was preserved as much as possible but due to the length of certain sentences as well as inherent differences in grammar and punctuation between the two languages, you will find unusual breaks throughout the text. I have also added text the translator failed to include and removed some additions he included due to their lack of relevance. The primary goal was to maintain a greater degree of loyalty to the original work and not on any "corrections" of the translator. Journey to the Centre of the Earth was written in 1864. Its author, Jules Gabriel Verne was born February 8th, 1828 in Nantes France and died on March 24th, 1905 in Amiens, France. This work is based primarily on the translation by Frederick Amadeus Malleson done in 1877. The title of that work was 'Journey to the Interior of the Earth', presumably to distinguish it from an earlier translation by an anonymous translator and published by Griffith and Farran in 1871 that used the word 'Centre' and was not very faithful to the original story. Reverend Malleson was born in 1819 and died 1897.
