About the Author

Roxanne Smolen is the R in R.A.P. Smolen. She’s been writing poems and stories since she was old enough to hold a crayon, and now has a dozen published books to her credit. “I love writing for children,” says this grandma. “It reminds me of what is truly important in life: family, friends, and Fridays.” Her motto is believe in yourself and never give up.
Aurora Smolen, the A in R.A.P. Smolen, is an eight-year-old go-getter. Her empathy for others helps her to create strong, believable characters. She loves books and spends her free time at the local library. She says, “I look forward to bedtime stories each night with my mom. Sometimes she reads to me, and sometimes I read to her. Books bring us together.”
Persephone Smolen, the P in R.A.P. Smolen, longs to become a famous author. She is striking out on her own with her debut novel, The Red Ribbon, which combines her love of mystery with her interest in ghosts. “I’ve had this story stuck in my mind for years,” says the talented eleven-year-old.
