Carolyn L. Gates is an economist at the Foundation for Indochina Studies, University of Amsterdam, but is currently based at the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Singapore. Le Cao Doan is an economist at the Institute of Economics, National Centre for Social Sciences and Humanities, Hanoi. Irene N0rlund is an historian working as a senior research fellow at the Nordic Institute of Asian Studies, Copenhagen.
