Overview

What if a vengeful despot unleashes a silent yet deadly attack on the world's most powerful navy?

Conventional warriors need not apply.

COMMANDER CRICKET SQUIRE and the men and women of the fleet brainthrust face an unthinkable threat aimed to behead the forward deployed naval force in the western Pacific. Newly promoted and decorated with combat awards after her escape from the oppressive regime's prison camp, Cricket returns to the flagship for another round of international skirmishes. Too soon after her recent capture and torture? Her doctors and shipmates think so. She determines to prove them wrong, not knowing how the vectors of the enemy's next attack all point directly at her.

This novella is the first part of VECTORS, the sequel to THE FLAGSHIP! SERIES of military thrillers told from the human side.

About the Author

Mike J. Krentz writes military fiction from the human side. His stories describe the true lives of military men and women, their challenges and relationships as well as their wounds, physical and emotional.

He draws on twenty years' experience as a Navy physician, including assignments to ships, air wings, and fleets that deployed to the Mediterranean Sea, Persian Gulf, and Western Pacific. From immersion with courageous yet sometimes flawed warriors, he portrays the professional and personal dramas that challenge military men and women -- conflicts often more provocative than combat.

Born and raised in Arizona, Mike earned a classical degree in English from the University of San Francisco, a Doctor of Medicine degree from the Medical College of Wisconsin, and a Master of Public Health Degree from Johns Hopkins University.

Following a civilian career as an emergency physician, Dr. Krentz rededicated his professional life to serve America's Navy and Marine Corps heroes and their families and to honor the sacrifices they make in defending our freedom and way of life. His last assignment was as 7th Fleet Surgeon on board the flagship, USS BLUE RIDGE -- the inspiration for the FLAGSHIP! series.
