About the Author

Ledezna Puerto started her teaching career in her native country of Honduras obtaining her first degree in Elementary Education and later a second degree in Secondary Education. After moving to the United States in 1991 where she worked hard to get into the teaching field. Ledezna has been an educator for over 20 years in Early Childhood Education. While working in Arlington County, Ms. Puerto had the opportunity to go to Spain to get her master’s degree in Spanish Culture.
Currently working in Arlington County where they value bilingual education. The county also gave her the opportunity to collaborate on creating the Kindergarten Spanish curriculum. She has a great reputation and rapport with her community as a creative and caring teacher.
Her passion is for teaching young children; according to her, children are like clay that teachers in collaboration with parents can mold. La “Señora Puerto” believes that the early grades, especially Kindergarten, is the foundation of every student’s life. She values bilingual education where reading and writing in two languages are relevant to improve language development. Parents and colleagues motivate her to write her stories to share with young minds.
