About the Author

“Make Disciples”… This simple statement that Jesus commanded His followers has been the driving force behind the ministry of Pastor J. L. Shelton. The structure of his work has been built around being a servant-leader, leading from a position of servitude and equipping men & women of God to ¬participate in the redemption of mankind. His passion has been to reach the unreached and those who are not usually targeted by the traditional methods of outreach.

Pastor J is a devout student of the Word who finds a fervent love in the teaching of the Scriptures. Although he does not boast or find affirmation in his education, Pastor J has obtained multiple degrees in his journey over the years. He currently holds an Assoc. Degree in Multi-Media from the Art Institute of Houston, a Dual B.S. Degree in Theology & Christian Ministry from The College of Biblical Studies, a Masters Degree in Education-Curriculum & Instruction and he has also been a student of Religious Studies and Psychology at the University of Houston.

Over the years God has molded Pastor J in such a way that modern day “Churchology” would label radical and extreme. Having a heart of a missionary, he has taken the message of the Gospel and aimed it at a culture that has grown dull and de-synthesized to the voice of the Church. Pastor J has stepped out of the box of tradition and sought to walk in the likeness of the Church found in the Book of Acts. He has chosen to take the Word of God literally in all areas and seeks to “Make Disciples” that “Make Disciples”.

It has been through his wrestling with God experiences that a hunger and thirst for the presence of God in his life and ministry were birthed. The vision that God has given Pastor J is one of Revival. A vision of the full restoration of the Glory of God once again resting upon the Church. A vision of the Church fulfilling its evangelistic call of preaching the Gospel to every creature. A vision of the Church united in the unity and love of Jesus Christ & absent of all denominational boundaries.
