This is one of my Grandpa Bud Aviation stories, from the complete collection called The Indiana Birdman. This particular story is about restoring a Cessna 195. it includes photos. the stories are based on a real person, I came to call him Grandpa bud, and wrote stories about him and his senior citizen life as an aviator. this story is about Grandpa bud and his grandson,Kenny(made up) and their working together on the week ends to restore this aircraft. it shows how Kenny learns how much is involved in the project, and that he must not lose patience, and that the project is not finished until the plane is, as Grandpa bud says, "Up-ta-specs." This story represents a slice of life of the private pilot who loves aircraft enough to restore broken ones, and give them a second, or third chance at life. It also tells of how Grandpa bud tells his grandson how he thiks his grandson is an up-ta-specs grandson for sticking with it until the project is finished, learning that things get done, one step at a time.
