About the Author

Mike is a native Houstonian and the father of four sons. Mike received his degree in aeronautical science and aviation, and became a commercial multi-engine, instrument-rated airplane pilot as well as a commercially rated helicopter pilot. He flew with Continental Airlines before he moved on to pilot helicopters for the Houston Police Department fulfilling a childhood dream. During his tenure with the Houston Police Department, Mike created the nationally recognized not-for-profit organization called Soul Patrol and received many awards and accolades for the significant positive impact on the community. Some of these awards include honors from both President George Bush (41st) and President Bill Clinton. He was the first recipient of the Sylvan Rodriquez Role Model of the Year Award, and he was also awarded Officer of the Year four times during his twelve year tenure at the Houston Police Department.

Mike retired from the police department in 1998 and co-founded Discover Leadership Training, Inc. Mike has authored 5 books. His most recent book, Unreasonable Possibilities, inspires readers to get out of their comfort zones and choose to truly live life rather than just exist. Mike is also a motivational speaker and is a favorite keynote speaker for his unique way of engaging an audience.

He lives his passion and shares his enthusiasm for life every day as President of the company. The outcomes of our trainings are based upon the principles and techniques that had proven successful in the programs he conducted for young people, educators, and parents.

In his spare time Mike enjoys fishing, running, cycling, and traveling to sporting events with his sons.
