Overview

A good fantasy story takes you away. The same could be said about "In the Garden," where the author wonders what would the world look like if Adam and Eve would never have consumed the forbidden fruit? From children to adults, this fantasy is unique and interesting to all. This story takes its readers on a journey with its central characters Scarlett and Andrew, who are sucked into a mysterious old book inside Uncle Bernard's library. They venture onto a life-changing discovery after being taken to another world, a world much better than we know. A place where love is mutual amongst all and feelings of envy, hate, and despair seem to be unknown. A place where animals and human beings live as one. A place where everyone has not only a spiritual but a physical connection to the Creator. But there is no happiness known to the ones outside of the borders of the kingdom. The Marked-ones constantly are in an attempt to get into the kingdom through a portal similar to the ones Scarlett and Andrew found. They want to eat the ripened fruit of the Garden of Eden for immortality likes the beings of the kingdom. Will Scarlett and Andrew find their way back home? Or will the marked ones find the portal and invade this peaceful reality? What role does destiny have in store for these two young kids?

About the Author

Lucas Estevam M Gonçalves was born in Brazil in 1989; one of his biggest passions has always been to tell stories. Working as a volunteer tutor for two years in local schools in Texas, he helped students of Middle and High school to overcome their fears and pursue their dreams. He has also worked in Brazil, assisting students in developing communities, and currently, among other activities, he serves the First Nation communities in Canada. His parents are pastors, and since he was very young, he was involved in the ministry, teaching, and ministering to people. He started to teach music and English as a second language in Brazil, in public and private schools, and that is where his passion for storytelling increased. Lucas has done his bachelor’s in Economics, theology, and English.
In 2014 he moved to Fort Worth, Texas - USA, where he worked as a missionary for a year and a half. There, besides serving the community, he had the chance to work in public schools as a mentor. In 2015 he went back to Brazil, where he developed social work projects with children and the youth in his community and started to teach English full time. As a missionary, he served a small village in Costa Rica – Upala, in 2016 and 2017.
In 2019, he moved to Victoria, Canada, where he took over the position of a youth pastor and local missionary. His many experiences directed him to start writing. Have such wonderful experiences with young people led him to write a fantasy novel based on an idea that he often talked about with them: What if Adam and Eve had not eaten the forbidden fruit? A dreamer, passionate in whatever he does, and takes inspiration from the ones who strive as well as himself.
