About the Author

Marvin C. Ziskin, M.D. is a Professor of Radiology and Medical Physics, and the Director of the Center for Biomedical Physics at Temple University School of Medicine. Dr. Ziskin received an A.B. degree in Biology from Temple University in 1958, an M.D. degree from Temple University in 1962 and, following an internship and some general practice, he received a masters degree in biomedical engineering from Drexel University in 1965. Peter A. Lewin, Ph.D. is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering in the College of Engineering at Drexel University, Philadelphia. He is also a core member of the Biomedical Engineering and Science Institute and Director of the Ultrasound Transducer Research Facility at Drexel University. Dr. Lewin obtained his M.S. degree in Electrical Engineering in 1968 and the Ph.D. in Physical Acoustics in 1979 in Copenhagen, Denmark. Before receiving his Ph.D. degree he was employed by Bruel and Kjaer, Denmark, where he was involved in the development of underwater piezoelectric transducers and associated electronics.
