About the Author

M. C. Abushar displayed talent in the arts from an early age. She began drawing at age thirteen. She won first place in a city-wide high school art contest. The prize was a trip to the Holy Land. She has a B.A. in art and a graduate certificate in etching from Hornsey College of Art, London. She loved to write and began by composing poems at age fourteen. American Girl Magazine granted an award to her poem "Fog", written at age fifteen. It won a cash prize and was published on the poetry page of their magazine. Commitment to providing excellence in education for children ages three through ten led M. C. Abushar to obtain a doctorate in K-12 education administration from Pepperdine University. Her experience as parochial elementary school principal in Los Angeles contributed to her gaining mastery in communicating with young kids. She resigned from the position of principal to write and illustrate books for children.
