About the Author

As a professor of Economics at two major universities, the author was often referred to as a closet English instructor due to the requirements for grammatically correct papers from students. An insatiable reader and member of a faculty writer’s club and a local writer’s group, as well as a writer of non-fiction books and essays, the author has penned a first novel. This is a particularly difficult process when time must be shared between teaching duties and a loving family.

The author has always made it a point to speak up for those who are oppressed, a personal characteristic that dates from J Reese Roberts' experiences as a child. The author was shy, very shy; hard-pressed to speak words freely. The doctor called it a social phobia. But that was all. They didn't have a name such as Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD) back then and you just kind of had to figure it all out by yourself.

But there was bullying. They had it then, too. Unfortunately, today with the advent of social media, there is proliferation of more hurtful forms. J Reese Roberts feels so much for those whose lives are oppressed.?

The author writes of it here, and shows, through the daughter Mariah and her mother Veronica, how important family bonds are over those of supposed friends you make in elementary and high school. These friendships most often die. But your family and the lovely people you choose as friends throughout your adult life . . . that is where you will find your everlasting strength.
