About the Author

Adam Cantor is a man who abandoned his doctoral studies at McGill to study cabinet making and antique restoration. He is also a classically trained sitar player who has toured in oldtime bands as a banjo player. He is a radio DJ in Vancouver, etc., and is attempting to run a publishing/ record company named Tenderhorn. He has a long-running electronic music project under the moniker of generalgruff.

Possibly because he went out and got a degree in Latin poetry at one time in his life, he tends to write a lot of poems that have traditional structures: sonnets, villanelles, sestinas, other stuff. However, he also writes poems with no particular form; though they tend to be filled with bizarre and profane imagery. As with his music, genre is not especially important. There is something for everyone, and lots for nobody, in these poems.

Adam secretly dreams of becoming a poet laureate for Canada one day, but only so that he can then be cast out from the position in scandal and shame.

The year of poetry series was a series of projects wherein the challenge was to write one poem a day for 365 days in a row. The collected poems here are some of the good ones. The series spanned over several years, but was paused during leap-years, as those would have been too much extra work.
