Overview

Turtle Rock Summer is a novel of love and loss. Set in a small Maine seacoast town during the nineteen forties, it is based on a tragic event in the life of a happy, close-knit family.
Gina is the young girl at the center of the book, observing how a senseless accident can change everyone she is close to, and most of all herself.
Others reveal many secrets in telling their own parts of the story, and how they managed to go on after such a loss, helped by their bond with the land and sea, and a continuing belief in love.

About the Author

Lois grew up with her brother Bob in the center of the little coastal town of Cushing, Maine, where they had close family ties, good neighbors and wonderful friends. Time spent in the Pleasant Point end of town on their grandparents' beautiful Farm on the Georges River, or at the "Post Office house" out on the road, was always looked forward to. The whole family eventually moved into the Farm House for several years, and Lois even lived there as a young mother, while hers and David's children grew to love the winding dirt lane leading through blueberry land and favorite trees, straight down to the especially beloved Turtle Rock shore.
She and some of her family, including grandkids, still visit that special place, thanks to the kind owners, for sadly none of it belongs to any of their family now.
