Being a trustee is a big job. And, for most people, it’s not a job they’ve done before. It’s hard enough to understand what you need to do and when you need to do it, without the added complication of communicating with and managing the expectations of trust beneficiaries eager for you to distribute the assets.

We wrote this book to give you the benefit of our more than 40 collective years of experience advising trustees on how to get the job done right. We give you concise, accurate, and clear instructions on how to manage a trust administration from beginning to end. You’ll learn how to communicate with beneficiaries, identify and value assets, file taxes, invest trust assets, provide trust accountings, manage ongoing trusts, and distribute trust assets. You’ll know when you need to get help and what questions to ask. Whether you work with an attorney or do it yourself, the Trustee’s Legal Companion will make your job easier and help you sleep better at night.
