Trumpoem: The Story Of How Donald Trump Changed History
Trumpoem is unique in that it is a historical narrative in verse that rhymes. It is not only different in composition but is also unparalleled in its subject matter. The framework is the tumultuous political arena of the past ten years, in which circumstances, personalities, and events have collided to create an unprecedented story. The larger-than-life personalities in the poem are Donald Trump, whose ambitions and populism catapulted him from real estate mogul and deal maker to the highest office in the land; President Barack Obama, the master orator who enacted policies that angered Trump and made him decide to run for president; and Secretary Hillary Clinton, the perennial achiever and anointed successor to Obama who ran a flawed campaign and was no match for the outsider. Highlights include Trump's politically incorrect behavior in confronting the establishment and his uncanny ability to contain Clinton and threaten Obama's legacy. The book consists of eight chapters, 27 subsections, and 290 verses of five lines each that rhyme. Each chapter and its subsections have catchy titles such as the second chapter, "The Trump Hand," consisting of "The Golden Hurrah," "The Nominating Brawl," "The Nominating Crawl," and "The Unconventional Convention." The end result is a lighter read in comparison to traditional prose, with each verse moving quickly from one topic to the next. Though concise, the content is factual, comprehensive and thought-provoking. Sometimes satirical, humorous, stunning, even maddening, the verses are interspersed with riveting quotations and poetic license. Each chapter deals with a different aspect of Trump's rise to power and explains how he was influenced by Obama's liberal ideology to run; how he won the nomination against 16 others while Clinton struggled against Bernie Sanders; how Clinton strategized to personally attack him at her convention and during the campaign only to be thwarted by his clever tactics; how Obama, the Democrats, and the media tried to undermine his agenda from the beginning and throughout the first one hundred days of his administration; how he forged ahead with the affairs of state despite the obstacles and under the shadow of collusion and surveillance. Trumpoem is politics at its best and worst, presented in a poetic format unlike any other competitive work, a must read experience!

About the Author

About The Author
I often call myself a jack-of-all-trades and master of some. This is because I have always had many interests, a burning desire to learn and experience, and great pride in accomplishment. On a scale of one to ten, I am a seven on risk-taking and a ten on willpower.

Even in school, I was torn between many subjects. I loved romance languages, which I studied for 12 years, and scientific discovery, which led to a BS in biochemistry. Sports and physical activity, especially baseball, tennis, and dancing, were always an essential part of my life. I played the piano and dabbled with artistic expression. Writing of any sort (poetry, scientific reports, narrative stories) was my forte. It was the words and their derivation, spelling, and usage that appealed to me, no matter what the medium.

My professional career was as varied as my interests. I worked as a research assistant for three Fortune 500 companies. I thought I would be continuing in this vein but was unexpectedly thrown into a management position, obtained an MBA, and never looked back. I met my husband of 45 years in the corporate world, had two children, and with my husband, bought an upscale retail center.

As a business owner, my life took another turn. My husband and I were continually trying to attract customers in new ways. We added a gift store, a kitchen shop, a book emporium, a clothing boutique, and showcased home décor. I learned to retail from the ground up and developed a special interest in design and home staging, which came in handy with renovating and building projects.

Where does Trumpoem fit into the picture? I had periodically written poetry over the years when inspired by an event or observation. On New Year's Eve 2016, I was half listening to an interview on TV. My ears perked up when I heard something about forgetting resolutions and focusing on aspirations, which are more enduring. Writing a serious epic poem came to mind almost immediately, and the subject matter of the 2016 election swiftly followed.

I had always kept up with politics, and the intricacies of the wacky nomination and jolting election were fresh in my mind. There was plenty of material; moreover, Donald Trump was a catalytic machine, turning news into controversy on a daily basis. Determined to capture his unorthodox style in a unique way, I wrote five verses on New Year's Day and was off to the races. The result was Trumpoem.
