Fun in 2020,
Triple Live rounds up three album's worth of highlights from
Garth Brooks' tours of the 2010s. The 2014 to 2017 international tour anchors the set, but there are also selections from Stadium Tour, and the variety of sources underscores how
Triple Live doesn't re-create a concert experience so much as it serves up a series of highlights in rapid succession. No matter the song selection or sequence, the album runs through hit after hit at a crowd-pleasing pace, stopping long enough to work in a recent song or two. Sometimes, a song will get stretched out a bit ("Friends in Low Places" runs nearly seven minutes), sometimes they'll get condensed -- and sometimes there's a cover thrown in for good measure -- but the arrangements are generally familiar; they're just revved up and amped up for the stage. This means there are no great revelations or reimaginings here, but the clean efficiency of
Garth and band does make for an entertaining experience. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine
