About the Author

Abdelmounam Sherik is a Corrosion Science Consultant focusing on corrosion management in crude and gas handling and transmission facilities. In his current position with Saudi Aramco, Dr. Sherik established and advanced pipelines corrosion research in areas such as black powder, external corrosion, modeling and prediction of hydrogen induced cracking, and sulfur solubility and deposition in gas lines. He is regularly invited as a keynote speaker on black powder in international conferences and workshops. Prior to joining Saudi Aramco, he was a Senior Metallurgical Engineer with Arcelor Mittal Dofasco in Canada and a Research Scientist with the National Research Council of Canada. Abdelmounam is active in many organizations such as NACE, SPE and ASME and has served on technical committees and chairperson in several international conferences. He also owns seven patents, has authored a chapter on black powder, and has over eighty journal and conference publications. Abdelmounam earned his PhD and MSc in Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, both from Queen's University in Canada.
