Interviews

From the Author
This book is dedicated to my Paternal Grandmother, Alpha Ella Ivy Baker who was a skilled practitioner and healer, a direct descendant of the Cherokee nation through her Great Great Grandmother. Grandmother spent her whole life in California. People came from far and near to be treated by her healing hands. She knew all of the medicinal properties of Herbs and Plants and used them in her healing. Grandmother married six times and outlived all of her Husbands.

When I was eight, my mother re-married and we moved to the East coast and I never saw my Grandmother again or had the opportunity to learn her skills, much as I may have wanted to. I feel blessed to have had a Grandmother like her and I dedicate this book in her honor. —Lucy Baker

Introduction

Spiritual people believe that everything we need already exists on the earth, put here by an all loving, all knowing God. They recognize that mysteries are still hidden on our planet and the need to explore the earth for new herbs and new treatments.

Scientists also believe that great discoveries and experiments will be mate and that elements and compositions must be examined carefully and perhaps mixed to obtain the best medicines for the mutual use of all who share this planet.

Those who are adamant about saving the great Rain Forests know that many of the plants and trees growing there hold in essence the treatments for our future along with the plants and trees in the rest of the world, one tf~rd of which are found in Latin America and the Caribbean.

There are trained Herbalists and Homeopaths who .can guide you in your selection of Herbs to use for specific purposes. This book is to be used only as a guide and to show the vast panapoly of natural treatments available.

Before there were doctors or pharmacies, there were the plants, the berries and the trees from which early man made his selection to treat his own ailments. Many of these uses have been passed down to us from centuries past. These natural products are a miracle and a bounty to be used by all mankind.
