Treasure Island
"Fifteen men on a dead man's chest –
Yo-ho-ho-and a bottle of rum!'

Treasure Island is the classic adventure tale by Scottish author Robert Louis Stevenson, narrating a story of "buccaneers and buried gold". It is without a doubt one of the best-loved children's adventure novels of all time.

When Jim Hawkins discovers a treasure map amongst the effects of his late friend "Cap'n" Billy Bones, he has little idea the trouble and danger it will cause him. With his friends Dr. Livesy and Squire Trelawney joining him, he sails on the Hispaniola as cabin boy, along with the overtly friendly, yet cunning, Long John Silver as the ship's cook, and a crew of shifty moods and uncertain loyalties on a remarkable and dangerous quest for the buried treasure of the legendary Captain Flint.

The book has achieved immortality on the silver screen numerous times throughout the years, most notable in adaptations by Disney, with a live-action version in 1950.

ROBERT LOUIS STEVENSON (1850-1894) was a short-story writer, novelist, poet, and essayist. The author of such classics as Treasure Island, Kidnapped, and The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, Stevenson ranks among the finest and most translated authors in the world. His Treasure Island is widely considered to be one of the top 100 novels of all time.
