Overview

Written for ballet students who aspire to dance on pointe, "To The Pointe" answers many basic questions about when and how to begin pointe work. Topics include: the history of pointe, how to know if you're ready, how to select and fit your first shoes, how to sew and prepare them for wearing, what dancing on pointe should feel like, how to deal with foot problems, and shoe modifications that can make the pointe experience more satisfying. When used as a supplement to instruction by a knowledgeable and conscientious ballet teacher, this guide can help students and their parents prepare for the joys and frustrations of pointe work.
