"Mr. Laird is a graduate of the School Of Engineering, University of Wisconsin. He was employed as an engineer for manufacturing companies followed by about 30 years serving as a City Manager for six municipalities, then editor of the American City magazine, a consultant for a New Town, a consultant on a water system for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and Finance Director for the Commercial Fisheries Division in Alaskaâs Department of
Fish And Game. In 1952 and 1954 was an unsuccessful candidate for the U. S. House of
Representatives from the then existing Fourth Congressional District of Nebraska. Unfortunately it appears the future may be a long and possibly painful experience as many nations concentrate on rescuing themselves from enormous Public and Private debts and try to avoid a financial collapse. The U. S. as a new nation in 1789 came onto center stage as the Worldâs first real Democracy. Expectations were high and immigration surged for decades. In todayâs world the longing for Freedom and Democracy still persists but no nation has copied exactly our governing structure. This bookâs message addresses the need to simplify our Governing structure to give the Public the opportunity to participate in the legislative process.
