Overview

It is a time of drought and despair. Samka, the headman of a preindustrial village, has lost his family and fears that he will lose everything else unless dire action is taken. When Bael, the sly and mysterious elder shaman, suggests that they seek the assistance of the mythical 'birdmen' to bring back the rains, Samka must choose where to place his faith: In his people, or in the possibility of becoming something more than a man.
