Robert Joseph Coleman, a native of Gadsden, Alabama, born April 10, 1939, was formerly an ice boy, a football star, a gourmet chef, a jazz band member, a Marine, a business proprietor, a community advocate, and a minister. He played a key role in the war against poverty in the Mississippi Cooperative Movement in the 1970s. He was also a political strategist and a trailblazer.
