About the Author

Art Peters was born and raised in Tacoma, Washington. At the age of 25 he joined the Navy as a diesel mechanic in the engine room of an LST. He started writing in 1990 just for fun. In 2000 he started this thriller. During its composition, he toured the Trogen nuclear power plant and a Cold War era U.S. diesel powered submarine in Oregon. He also visited a Russian submarine, now tied up in Long Beach, California, next to the Queen Mary and two World War II era submarines. He remembered a peaceful encounter with a Russian submarine at sea, it sparked his imagination, and then conjured up an engine room disaster on the Nimitz. At the age of 60, he has been employed as a school bus driver in Tacoma for the last 12 years. His work has sent him to several school districts out of state, including Alaska, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. conjured up an engine room disaster on the Nimitz.
