About the Author

NuhTAY The Poet, whose real name is Nnate Okoro Lekwa, is a Nigerian American stage performer, public speaker, producer, and Black Feminism activist. From a very young age Tay has been dedicated to and inspired by the socioeconomic ascension of Black Women. The son of a single mother, Tay was born in Houston, Texas and is the sole brother to several sisters. As a high school senior he qualified for an all-state debate tournament. That achievement garnered the attention of Dr. Thomas F. Freeman, legendary head coach of the world renowned, internationally acclaimed Texas Southern University Debate Team. As a TSU Debater he traveled the globe competing against some of the most brilliant thinkers in the world. By the time he was a senior in college not only was he considered to be an elite public speaker; he also became one of the most dynamic poets of our generation. Clark Atlanta University took notice and recruited Mr. Lekwa to become the university’s first debate coach. Shortly after arriving in Atlanta to coach the team NuhTAY became an internet radio sensation at World Star Hit Radio providing production expertise and timely social commentary. Soon thereafter NuhTAY would find himself in midst of some the nations most prolific screenwriters as driving force behind the visionary Bridge Seventeen Writing Studio. These endeavors elevated his Black Feminist agenda and led to him meeting renowned author and women’s equality activist Lillie Young; who would go on to inspire to NuhTAY The Poet to publish his first book.
