About the Author

Alan was born in Greenwich, South East London in February 1952. Once he joined Eltham Green School in 1963 he studied for his "A" Level Art under Richard Box and Jim Riddock where he was introduced to the artists of the Surrealist movement and was fascinated by the work of Tanguy, De Chirico and of course Salvador Dali. Later he studied the optical illusion work of M. C. Escher and the architecture and interior design of Frank Lloyd Wright.

Leaving school in 1968 with "A" Level Art, Alan began his professional artistic journey by producing his own 'private' artwork while working as a trainee commercial artist in London's highly competitive advertising industry. After just two years he parted with the commercial art industry and moved into sales and marketing, but he continued to pursue his creative ambitions and by the early 1970's he was exhibiting and selling his art across London. He moved away from London in 1977 and after 28 years living and exhibiting in Milton Keynes moved to Dorset in 2005.

During the late 1990's he started experimenting with mass-media and combining artistic techniques with the aid of the computer - this genre is called Massurrealism. In Massurrealism the artist combines images from the outer world (the Mass) and inner world (the Surreal).

In 2004 he was invited to become a member of the Massurrealist Movement by it's founder and has set up a website to promote this style of art in the UK.

A master of digital technique, Alan continues to experiment and explore new methods of New Media to fulfill his artistic impulses.

Alan has exhibited in London, Hungary, Germany, Argentina, Portugal as well as doing both solo and group shows in the UK
