Overview

THORNS FOR A SEEKER by Bala

The Indian Sage Ramana Maharshi compared the process of seeking Truth to how one might use a thorn (concept) to remove another thorn (concept) imbedded in ones flesh. Thorns For A Seeker contains a wonderful selection of thorns designed to help the sincere seeker of Truth to see through the illusion of separation.

The book begins with a fascinating description of the impersonal event of Enlightenment that occurred through the body and mind mechanism of the author, Bala. There follows a collection of very sharp thorns that are both clear and concise. Any one of them could lead to the end of seeking.

"This is a beautiful, profound, and helpful collection of pointers."
Daniel Heller

"Bala deftly points to the Truth and talks about enlightenment in his own unique way with clarity and authority."
JoAnne Franz-Moore

About the Author

Bala (Todd Haydon Ph.D. b. 1961) had an interest in philosophy since his adolescent years. In September of 1987, he attended a public talk given by Ramesh Balsekar. Unknown to him at that time was that his “future” guru Wayne Liquorman was also in attendance at that talk. He spent nearly four years formally studying Advaita Vedanta in an ashram in India in preparation to meet with Ramesh again in 1991.
The seeking continued and seven years later in the spring of 1998, he met his final guru (Wayne) for the first time in Atlanta, USA. In the fall of 1999, the impersonal event of enlightenment occurred through the body mind mechanism called Todd. Soon after and over a five-year period, the contents of this book began to appear. This is his first book on Advaita.
