Overview

Survival becomes all encompassing for two souls set adrift in time. She, a well to do Author-to-be -- He, a socially challenged videogame store-manager. Cast away to an empty world with nothing but their wits and what they can scavenge from their disheveled lives.

He will do his best to keep them alive, and she will do her best to stay sane and chronicle their journey. But in this "wild earth" nothing is simple. Strange obelisks are appearing around them, something is wrong with the stars and...they are not alone...and whatever else is out there...is hungry.

About the Author

Charlie Dearing was born in Santa Fe, New Mexico. He began his young life a fairly introverted soul -- Preferring time with books, movies, and videogames to the dangerous and chaotic nature of human interactions. His proclivity and desire for writing began at an early age, when reading young adult novels by Bruce Coville and R.L. Stein encouraged him to write short stories and novellas about fantastical and strange ideas. Entire semesters of his high school education were devoted to being locked in the school library with a pile of Kurt Vonnegut, Phillip K. Dick, and Dan Simmons novels.

After a time, the introversion abated, and he found himself immersed in the world of Theatre. Here he experimented with character, plot, and thematic elements in new and exciting ways. This adoration and obsession with the craft of the stage followed him into college and beyond. He published two short plays, two monologues, performed and saw others perform his works at both the collegiate and professional level.

During a long stint as a clerk in a video game store, he returned to a passion for the novel form, and began work on his first major novel, "This Wild Earth". He finished this novel in between Marriage, Returning to college, and the greatest job of his life: raising his two children.
