About the Author

As a naturopathic doctor, entrepreneur, wellness magazine founder, motivational speaker, trainer, author, Ironman triathlete, father, and husband, Dr. James pretty much does it all.
Dr. James is well known for his highly engaging “Optimum Wellness” TV segments that highlight all areas of a wellness lifestyle, balancing mind, body, and spirit. He served as QVC’s Wellness Specialist from 2008 to 2013. Dr. James’s messages have been seen by audiences across the United States and around the world through both television and live appearances.

His wellness knowledge and passion for helping others live life optimally extends to creating healthy food products. Dr. James is cofounder and product formulator for Skoop, a functional nutrition line. He is cofounder of Clarity Beverages, an all-natural line of functional beverages. He was the founder and formulator of mix1 all-natural nutrition shakes. He consults for and is highly sought out in the world of nutriceuticals and functional nutrition.

Dr. James is passionate about the outdoors and all things related to mindful movement. He especially enjoys CrossFit, mountain biking, telemark skiing, hiking, weight training, and yoga and is the author of eight books, including the award-winning cookbook Colorado Fit Kitchen.

Dr. Debra Rouse is a naturopathic doctor with extensive clinical experience in nutrition, botanical medicine, women’s and children’s health, and lifestyle medicine. She is not only intuitive but is a skilled diagnostician, who relishes getting to the cause of any problem.

Her passion for healthy living began at an early age and has continued to expand into entrepreneurial adventures. She is the cocreator of the Optimum Wellness media program, which includes television, web, and retail presence, as well as a quarterly magazine.

Debra is dedicated to educating and inspiring others to take charge of their health through community outreach seminars, articles, retreats, radio, and creating healthy recipes. She served as senior writer and editor for alternative and complementary medicine for Thomson Healthcare, and continues freelance writing and editing. Her writing and recipes have been featured in such magazines as Delicious Living, Better Nutrition, Vegetarian Times, and Alternative Medicine. Debra has coauthored two cookbooks: Not Just for Diabetics, Naturally Delicious Recipes for Optimum, and the award-winning Colorado Fit Kitchen.

Debra is passionate about cooking healthy food and daily movement. She is a certified NIA and R.I.P.P.E.D instructor, has completed marathons, triathlons, including a half-Ironman triathlon, and loves tennis, biking, skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking with her family. Debra has two daughters, Dakota and Elli, and recently celebrated twenty years of marriage with Dr. James.
