About the Author

Deborah Hall-Greene Thomas, Ph.D., aka Dr. D., was the National Protocol Officer for the Tuskegee Airmen, Inc. (TAI), for over 25 years. Dr. D. is a highly accomplished and intellectually curious leader. A creative thought leader with a passion for introducing middle high school students to the world of STEM and Aviation.

Dr. D. has traveled throughout the country with the original Tuskegee Airmen with a focus on keeping their legacy alive.
Dr. D. has played an integral role with the awarding of the congressional gold medal ceremony, the filming of the documentary, “In Their Own Words”, coordinator with HBO for the movie, “The Tuskegee Airmen”, the most watched movie in HBO history, former member of the East Coast Chapter, TAI Speaker’s Bureau as guest speaker at DAR and many agencies.

She is the recipient of 3 Tuskegee Airmen of the Year Awards, numerous outstanding Service Awards, Congressional Recognition Awards for Outstanding Service from Senators Dianne Feinstein & Carl Levin, Congresswomen Nancy Pelosi & Maxine Waters, and Congressmen James Moran & Charles Rangel. She is also the recipient of Governor’s Legislative Awards from the states of California, Maryland, and Virginia.

Dr. D. earned her doctoral degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VA Tech) and her master’s degree and undergrad studies at American University.

Dr. Deborah Hall-Greene Thomas is on a mission to keep the Tuskegee Airmen legacy alive, to ensure the story is passed down from generation to generation and never forgotten. It is her hope that this book will be a keepsake for children of all ages.
