Thermodynamics Study Book: First and Second Law Thermodynamics taught by a professor with 40+ years experience at teaching eager minds
This book is a clearly written, carefully organized travel through the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics leading to numerous industrial applications. Students of all disciplines will find the development of the First and Second Laws of Thermodynamics very useful material presented in a new light. Detailed problems with full explanations are solved in each chapter of the book. Extensive data in the appendix is useful not only for studies in this book, but also for engineering practice. Beyond development of the First and Second Laws, applications covered in the book include industrial process equipment such as heat exchangers, compressors and turbines and important cycles such as the steam Rankine cycle, vapor compression cycle, Otto and Diesel engines and others.
Professor Price taught thermodynamics for over 40 years before retiring in 2021. He grew up in Texas attending Lamar University (BS, 1975) and Rice University (PhD, 1979) before starting his academic career at Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge. In 2000, he retired from LSU and joined The University of Tulsa (TU) where he was Professor and Chairman for 20 years. He retired from TU in 2021 to focus on writing and on his family and hobbies.
