Treatments that are used today are based exclusively on the results of clinical research and experience. The main criteria adopted in the choice of the treatments are, on the one hand the capacity to reduce the intensity and the frequency of onset of symptoms, the other to improve the level of adaptation to the surrounding environment. Antipsychotic drugs are key to reducing the intensity and frequency of psychotic symptoms found in people with schizophrenia, but have no effect on levels of motivation to act, or the difficulties they face in communicating with others, or to establish and maintain relationships adequate social. For such problems, usually, have recourse to psychotherapy, which has as its aim the improvement of communication and interaction with others.
