Purpose: The book is designed to explore theoretical and research knowledge that is foundational for practice as an academic nurse educator. It is important in the rapidly changing healthcare environment for educators to be able to apply the concepts of theory and research as they relate to competency in nursing. This book describes the process by which nurses can use both in practice.
Audience: It is written for nursing faculty and graduate students enrolled in a nurse educator program. The author teaches nurse educators at Missouri State University where she is the director of nurse educator graduate programs.
Features: This book covers the roles and core competencies of academic nurse educators and discusses how to facilitate learner development, use effective assessment and evaluation strategies, participate effectively in curriculum design, and function in the education environment.
